Sarkar Watch

The shop is right here on Main Road in Chourai. It’s not a very big place, just a small spot where we sit every day surrounded by clocks and watches. You know how it is in a small town, people walk in from the main road when their watch stops or the battery dies. Most days it is just us at the bench with those tiny tools and magnifying glasses. There is always a pile of old wristwatches waiting to be looked at. Sometimes the parts are so small they are hard to find if you drop them on the floor. It gets pretty dusty with the traffic outside but we try to keep the glass cases clean so people can see what we have. We have been in Chourai for a while now. Most people around here know where Sarkar Watch is located because it’s a busy street. It is mostly about getting the timing right on these old mechanical pieces that people bring in. It’s quiet work even though the road outside is noisy with all the bikes and trucks. We don't have fancy furniture or anything like that. Just some sturdy stools and the work table where all the fixing happens. It feels like time moves differently when you are staring at gears all afternoon. We just open up in the morning and stay until the sun goes down and the street lights come on. It is just a regular local business doing what we do.
