Our factory, Marathwada Auto Compo Pvt.Ltd., is right in the middle of the E-63 block in MIDC Waluj. If you know the Aurangabad area, you know Waluj is where all the real heavy lifting happens. It gets incredibly dusty out here, especially when the wind picks up in the afternoon, but that’s just part of being in an industrial zone. We spend our days working on auto components. It’s loud, it’s sweaty, and there is always the smell of grease and cut metal in the air. Most of the team are locals who have been in the trade for years. Corporate meetings don't really happen here; usually, we just talk over the sound of the presses to get things sorted. Whenever the power cuts out, we all have to wait around for the generator to kick in, which gives us a few minutes to catch our breath and grab some water. Getting the pieces out the door on time is our main focus because that’s what the assembly lines need. This isn't glamorous work by any means. Our office chairs have seen better days and the tea from the canteen is usually way too sweet, but we get the job done. Working in Waluj means you’re part of a big network of suppliers, so there’s always someone dropping by or a truck waiting at the gate. We just keep our heads down and keep the machines running.
