Gagumal Jaisaram

Gagumal Jaisaram is the name of our place on Pur Road in Gulmandi. This business has been around for a long time, passed down through the family. We deal with wholesale items and bulk goods. The building is old and has high ceilings which helps keep it cool during the summer months. We have big wooden doors that we open wide every morning. The floor is made of smooth stone that has worn down over decades of people walking on it. It is usually quite busy in the mornings when the smaller shopkeepers come to get their stock. We have a lot of crates and boxes piled up nearly to the roof. I sit at a heavy wooden desk near the front. There is a lot of shouting back and forth to the workers in the back. We use old-style weighing scales for some things and digital ones for others. The air smells like burlap bags and dry goods. It is a lot of lifting and carrying, so everyone stays pretty fit. We don't spend money on advertising or fancy things. Everyone in Gulmandi knows who we are and what we do. It is a traditional way of doing business, based on knowing people for years. We close up when the sun goes down and the market starts to quiet out for the night.
