Abacus 'D' Maths Academy

We opened up this little spot in Chhatarpur a few years back. It’s not a huge school or anything like that. We just have a couple of rooms where we help kids get better at math using the abacus. It’s pretty simple. We saw that a lot of children in the neighborhood were struggling with numbers, and we figured this would be a good way to help. The rooms aren't fancy. We have some basic tables and chairs that have seen better days. It gets a bit noisy in the afternoons when the kids are all counting out loud together. That’s just part of the atmosphere here. We don't do much in the way of big advertising or glossy flyers. Most of the parents who bring their kids here just heard about us from a neighbor or saw us while walking by. We spend our days showing them how to move the beads and visualize the sums. It’s rewarding when you see a child finally stop worrying about their math homework. Sometimes the chalk gets everywhere and the floor needs a good sweep, but we don't mind. We aren't trying to change the world. We just want the kids here to feel a bit more confident. It's a small local thing, and we like it that way. We usually have some tea sitting on the desk and we’re always up for a chat if a parent has questions about how their child is doing with the numbers.
