Annai Jaya Agro Centre

If you head down to 26 Cheyyur in Chunampet, you’ll find our little agro centre. It’s called Annai Jaya, and it’s basically where the local farmers come when they need something for their fields. The shop isn't very big, but we pack a lot of stuff into the shelves. From seeds to the basic tools, we try to keep what's needed for the season. It’s quiet sometimes, then suddenly it gets packed when the rains are coming and everyone is rushing to get their planting done. I spend a lot of time just talking to people about their crops or why the weather is acting strange this year. It's not a corporate setup at all. Usually, there’s some dirt on the floor from the boots coming in and out, but that’s expected in a place like this. We’ve been at this address for a long time, so most people in Chunampet know exactly where to find us. We don't have a fancy website or anything. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the regulars to stop by. Sometimes we run out of things and have to wait for the next truck, which can be frustrating. But we just do our best with what we have. It’s honest work helping out the folks around here. We just take it one day at a time.
