Ashley Alteams India Limited

We are based out in the Sipcot park in Cheyyar, at unit number eight. It’s a pretty large area and mostly quiet compared to the city. Ashley Alteams has been here for a while now, focusing on die-casting and industrial parts. The facility is big and it takes a while to walk from one end to the other. We have a lot of people working shifts here, so the gates are always busy during the changeover. Most of us come from the nearby villages or towns to work every day. It’s a lot of metal and heavy machinery, so it gets quite hot on the shop floor. We just follow the schedules and try to keep the production lines moving without any breakdowns. There’s a canteen where we all gather for lunch, which is usually the loudest part of the day. The bosses are around, but mostly we just stick to our stations and do what needs to be done. It’s not a glamorous place to work, just a big industrial shed with a lot of noise. We deal with a lot of shipments going out on big trucks every week. Sometimes the rain in Cheyyar makes the roads a mess, but the work inside doesn't stop. It’s a steady rhythm here at Sipcot. We just show up, do the shift, and head back home to our families. It’s a long day but it is what it is. We just keep the metal pouring and follow the plan.
