We've been here in Poochakkal for quite a while now. Most people around Panavally know where the shop is, right near the main stretch. It's just a regular place, nothing too fancy to look at from the outside. We spend most of our mornings getting things ready before the sun gets too hot. Usually, the first few customers show up early, looking for stuff they forgot to buy the day before. It gets a bit busy during the lunch hour and then things quiet down until the evening when everyone is heading home from work. We try to keep the shelves stocked with whatever folks around here usually ask for. Sometimes we run out of things, but we get the next delivery in a couple of days. The fan in the corner makes a bit of noise, but it keeps us cool enough while we work. My cousin helps out sometimes when I need to go out for some personal work or to pick up supplies from the town. It’s not a big operation, just us doing what we’ve been doing for years. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their names. It’s nice to have a chat while weighing things out or bagging them up. Sometimes the rain makes the road a bit messy, but people still come in. We just keep going, day after day, making sure the door is open when it’s supposed to be.
