Our office, VSPL, is tucked away in a rather unique spot at IIT Madras. We are located at D1-25 on Bonne Avenue, which is part of the faculty and staff housing area. It is a lot quieter here than the main parts of Chennai, which we really appreciate during the busy work week. Being C/O V. Jayasankaran means we have a specific history with this location. The campus is full of old trees and it’s not unusual to see a few deer wandering around while we are looking out the window. It feels more like a home than a corporate building. Inside, things are pretty simple. We have our computers set up and enough space for some files, but it’s not a place with a fancy lobby or anything like that. The weather in Chennai is usually quite humid, so we keep the AC running most of the time to stay focused. People usually come by after making a call because finding the right avenue inside the IIT grounds can be a little tricky if you aren't used to it. We like the pace here. It is steady and calm, allowing us to focus on our tasks without the constant noise of city traffic. Most days are spent handling emails and local paperwork. It is just a small group of us making sure things move along properly every day. We don't really have big meetings or anything, just daily work.
