Running a workshop at 505 M on the main road in Kadambady means we are always in the middle of the action. Automotive work is what we do day in and day out here in Nagapattinam. Our daily life involves plenty of engine parts, oil stains, and the sound of heavy tools hitting metal. It is a basic setup where we handle various vehicle components and repairs. The main road outside is always busy with buses and trucks, so a lot of dust drifts into the shop throughout the day. We do not spend much time cleaning the floors because they just get dirty again five minutes later. The air here has that salty humidity from the sea, which makes some of the work a bit tougher when metal parts get rusty or stuck. There is a small group of us who have worked on cars and bikes for most of our lives. We do not have any fancy diagnostic machines with big screens, just the usual tools and our own experience to figure out what is wrong. People from around the area bring their vehicles in when they are not running right. We spend most of our time under a hood or looking at a part on a workbench. It is a steady way to make a living and we like the feeling of fixing something that was broken. We just keep a few spare parts in the back and get on with the work.
