We’ve got our setup at 62-B on Ormes Road, right in the Kilpauk area. It’s a decent spot for a leather business because it’s easy for our suppliers to find us. The office is on a street that gets quite a lot of shade from the trees, which is helpful when the heat gets bad. Inside, the place smells like leather all the time, which is something you just get used to after a week of working here. We handle a lot of different leather goods and we have piles of skins around the place that we’re sorting through. It’s not a very tidy office, to be honest. There are always scraps or samples lying on the tables. We’re a small group, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything, from answering the door to checking the stitching on a new batch of bags. We don't have a big human resources department or anything like that. If there’s a problem, we just talk it out over lunch. Kilpauk is a nice neighborhood, and we’ve been here long enough that the neighbors don't mind the occasional delivery truck blocking the way for a minute. We focus on the practical side of making leather things. It’s about making sure the material is tough and the work is solid. We don’t put on any acts here; we just do the work and send it out.
