Venkatesan & Co. is situated at 289, Sowcarpet Road. If you have ever been to Sowcarpet, you know exactly what the atmosphere is like. It is crowded, loud, and full of energy at almost every hour of the day. Our shop is right in the thick of it. We have a narrow entrance that leads back into our main work area. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when we have a lot of deliveries coming in at once, but we’ve learned how to move around each other without causing too much trouble. We’ve been at this address for quite some time, and the building shows its age a little bit. There are marks on the walls and the floor is worn down from all the feet walking over it over the years. We don't spend money on fancy decorations because we’d rather just have the tools we need to do our jobs. Most of the time, the air is thick with the smells of the street—food from the vendors and the exhaust from the bikes. It’s not a quiet place to work, but we like the buzz of the city. We open up the shutters early in the morning and stay until the street starts to quiet down in the evening. It’s a simple life, and we are happy to be part of the Sowcarpet community. We just take things one day at a time. The neighbors are good people and we help each other out when things get busy.
