Bharat Handloom

Bharat Handloom is located at No. 149/92 on Arcot Road, specifically in the Jai Garden area of Valasaravakkam. Our shop is a bit of a traditional place. We have shelves and tables covered with all kinds of hand-woven fabrics, bedsheets, and towels. The smell of the cotton is the first thing you notice when you walk in. We aren't a big modern department store. It’s a small, local business that we’ve been running for years. We don't have a lot of staff, just a couple of us here to help people. The shop can get a bit warm in the summer because we don't have big air conditioners, but the fans keep the air moving. We spend a lot of time unfolding the fabrics to show the patterns and then carefully folding them back up. It’s a slow pace of work, which we like. Most of our customers are from the Jai Garden area or people traveling along Arcot Road. We don't do any fancy marketing or social media stuff. We just keep the doors open and wait for people to stop by. It’s a very local way of doing things. We know our regulars and they know us. We just keep the shop going and hope folks continue to appreciate the handloom items we have.
