V.K.R. Clinic

V.K.R. Clinic is right there on 1 Mudichur Road in Tambaram West. It is not some big fancy medical center with glass walls or anything. It’s just a regular clinic where we spend our days seeing whoever walks through the door. Usually, it starts early in the morning. People from around Chromepet come in for all sorts of things, maybe a fever or just a checkup. The waiting room has these plastic chairs that have seen better days, and the fan on the ceiling makes a little clicking sound if it’s on the highest setting. We try to keep the files in order, but the desk gets messy sometimes with all the papers and pens. It gets pretty loud outside because of the traffic on Mudichur Road, especially during the rush hour when everyone is heading home. You can hear the horns honking while you’re trying to talk to a patient. We’ve been here at this spot for a while now, so the walls have some scuffs and the floor is a bit worn down in the spots where people walk the most. It’s just how it is. We don’t have a lot of bells and whistles. We just have the basic stuff you need to look at someone and figure out what’s wrong. It’s a steady kind of life, seeing the same faces from the neighborhood and keeping the place running day after day.
