V. K. Export

Down here at No. 58 Vallava Ganapathy Street, things stay pretty active. V. K. Export is tucked away in Shri Venkatesware Perumal Nagar, part of Valasaravakkam. It’s a residential-feeling area but we have our operations set up right here. The neighbors are used to seeing the vans come and go by now. We started this because we knew a few suppliers and figured we could help move their products further away. It’s not a glamorous job. Most of the time is spent on the phone or sitting at the computer checking schedules. The office has a few old chairs and a lot of boxes. We try to keep things organized, but when three orders come in at once, it gets a bit messy for a day or two. We handle all the local logistics ourselves. Valasaravakkam is a good spot for us since it’s connected well enough to the main routes. We don't have a big marketing department or anything. It’s just us doing the work, making sure the labels are right and the boxes are taped up tight. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but that’s just part of working here. We focus on the daily tasks. We’ve learned a lot about shipping over the years just by making mistakes and fixing them. It’s honest work.
