Upswing Garments

Upswing Garments is located at No-Old 3/439A on Mahabalipuram Road. We are right in the Mettukuppam area, not far from the Fortune Hotel, which is the easiest way to find us. If you see the hotel, you’re basically there. We’ve been working out of this space for a good while now. The building isn't brand new, but it’s sturdy and has plenty of room for the sewing machines. It gets pretty loud when everything is running at once, so we usually have to shout a bit to be heard over the noise of the motors. We do a lot of work here every day. It’s mostly just the sound of fabric moving and machines humming. The windows look out toward the main road, so there’s always something to see if we take a break. We don't have a big reception area or anything like that. People just walk in through the main door and talk to whoever is nearest. The floor is concrete and we have piles of thread and fabric everywhere. It’s a busy place, but we know where everything is kept. We spend most of our time at the benches. It's hard work, but we’re used to the pace. Mettukuppam is a good spot for this because it’s easy for the delivery trucks to come and go. We just keep our heads down and get the orders done as they come in.
