We’ve been here at Smith Lane for a while now. If you know the Annasalai Post area, you know how it gets during rush hour. Our office is on the second floor, just above the noise of the street. It’s a plain space, nothing fancy, just desks and computers where we get our work done. Most days start with tea from the stall downstairs because the office kettle is temperamental. We handle data and research stuff mostly. It isn’t always exciting, but it keeps us busy from morning until evening. The building has that old Chennai feel, where the walls are thick and the stairs are a bit narrow. We don't really have a big reception area or anything. People usually just knock and walk in. We spend a lot of time looking at numbers and reports. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait for the backup to kick in, which gives us a few minutes to chat about whatever is happening in the news. It’s just a group of us trying to make sense of things for the people who hire us. We’ve got some files stacked up in the corner that we really should organize one of these days. It’s a decent place to work though. We’re right in the middle of everything, so getting home can be a bit of a struggle if you leave even five minutes late. That’s just how it is around here.
