Ebsi Exports

Ebsi Exports is situated over in the Thiruvottiyur area on Basin Road. The address can be a little bit confusing for people because of the old and new numbering systems, but we are officially at New No. 49, which used to be 111/1. We are right in the heart of Indira Gandhi Nagar. If you know the northern part of Chennai, you know it is very industrial and busy. There are big factories and warehouses everywhere you turn. Our place is no different from the rest. It’s a bit of a gritty area with a lot of dust flying around from the heavy trucks that are always moving toward the port. We spend a lot of our time out in the yard checking on containers and pallets. The office inside is small and usually smells like a mix of machine grease and old paper files. We have a couple of fans that really struggle when the summer heat hits, but we manage to get through the day. It’s a lot of hard, physical work, nothing like the polished stuff you see in business magazines. We’re usually wearing our regular work clothes and getting our hands a bit dirty. Most of our day is spent making sure the export paperwork matches what we actually have in the crates. Mistakes happen sometimes, and then we have to spend hours sorting it out with the officials. It can be frustrating, but it is just the job we do. We've been here for years.
