Vj Cotton

Vj Cotton is tucked away at No. 24 Sannathi Street in the Theradi area of Thiruvottiyur. It is a very traditional part of town, right near the temple surroundings. You can always hear the activity from the street outside, which keeps things interesting. We mainly deal with cotton goods here. The air is often filled with a bit of lint, but you get used to it after the first week. It’s a simple operation. We have a few desks and a lot of shelf space for the rolls. My cousin helps out with the books sometimes, but mostly it's just a small crew. We don't have a website that's updated all the time or anything fancy like that. People usually just call or drop by the shop on Sannathi Street. The building is a bit old, but it stays relatively cool because of the high ceilings. We try to keep the stock moving so nothing sits for too long. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time getting down the narrow street, so we end up carrying a lot of stuff by hand. It’s hard work, but it keeps us busy. We like being in Thiruvottiyur because it feels like home. There is no need for corporate talk here, we just do our jobs and go home to our families. It is a decent way to spend the day and we take pride in it.
