Our shop is tucked away on School Road in Gayathri Nagar, right near the Angalamman Temple. If you know Thiruverkadu, you know how crowded it gets around the temple during festivals. We can hear the bells and the people passing by from our front door. It’s a bit of a maze getting here if you aren’t local, but we’ve been at this address for long enough that most people know where we are. We mostly deal with everyday supplies and keeping the inventory sorted out. It’s not a big operation, just a few of us making sure things run okay. The morning starts with clearing the dust and checking what needs to be delivered. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to people who walk in off the street. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we usually have the fan going full blast while we check the ledger. There’s always some construction happening nearby or a truck blocking the lane, so things can be a little slow sometimes. We don’t have a website or anything like that, we just handle things face to face. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy with the actual work to worry about that. It’s a plain, honest place where we try to stay organized and get through the day’s tasks without too much trouble. The neighborhood is loud, but we like the energy of the people nearby.
