Thirumalai & Co is located down on 1st Narayanan Street in Chennai. We have been working as customs house agents and freight forwarders here for a long time. The street is old and has that specific Chennai feel, especially when it gets really hot in the afternoons. Our office is a busy place with a lot of people coming in and out with documents. Dealing with the port and customs means there is always a stack of papers to get through. We don't really do the flashy stuff. It is mostly about making sure the freight gets moved and the rules are followed. Most of the staff here knows the port like the back of their hand. We spend a lot of time on the phone or heading down to the docks. The office is a bit cramped because of all the files, but we know where everything is. You get used to the noise of the city and the way things move slowly but surely. It is steady work. We don't have fancy brochures or a big marketing team. We just have our desks and our experience with the local shipping rules. Errablu Chetty Street is nearby too, and the whole area is just one big hub for trade. We have seen the business change over the years, but the basic work of moving goods stays the same. We just keep showing up and doing it every single day. That is the way we work.
