Our office is on the first floor at 53 Raja Mutiah Road. Periamet is the kind of neighborhood where everyone seems to be involved in the leather trade in one way or another. The street is always buzzing with activity, and you have to dodge parked scooters just to get to our entrance. Once you go up the stairs, it’s a bit quieter. We have a space that is filled with the smell of leather and the sound of rustling paper. There are samples everywhere, draped over chairs and stacked on the tables. It’s where we spend our days talking to people and checking on our orders. We don't have a fancy showroom. If someone wants to see what we have, we just pull it off the shelf. The furniture is practical and a bit mismatched. We have a small window that lets in some light, but it mostly stays closed to keep out the noise of the road. We get our tea from a shop just a few doors down, and we usually drink it while standing around the main table. It’s a very informal way of working, but it suits us perfectly. We know our neighbors and we know our business. We’ve been part of the Periamet community for a long time now, and we don't see that changing. It's just how things are in this part of Chennai.
