Vijay Garments Ltd.

Our place is situated at Plot No. D3 2 inside the MEPZ-SEZ in Tambaram. Being in a special economic zone means there are a lot of rules to follow and security is tight. At Vijay Garments Ltd., we have a fairly large setup for sewing and packing clothes. The floor is lined with rows of sewing machines and people working on different parts of shirts or pants. It’s a very organized chaos, I guess you could call it. Tambaram is a good area because a lot of our staff lives nearby, so they don't have to travel too far. We do a lot of bulk orders, so the pace is usually quite fast. You won't find many empty chairs during the day. We try to keep the atmosphere decent for everyone because garment work is tiring. The heat can be a bit much in the afternoons, but we manage. We’ve been at this plot for a while now. Most of our work goes out to other countries, so we have to be careful about the quality. If a seam is crooked, it has to be fixed. It is just basic common sense. We aren't a fancy boutique, just a solid manufacturing unit that gets the job done. Sometimes the schedules are tight, but we usually make it through the week without too much trouble. We just keep the needles moving and ensure every box is taped up properly before it leaves.
