Tagraj & Co. is situated at 114, Nyniappa Naicken St. in the Park Town area. This part of the city is famous for being crowded and full of old wholesale shops. Our building is one of those tall, thin ones where every inch of space is used for something. We deal with a lot of heavy lifting and moving boxes around. The street outside is so narrow that it’s hard for even a rickshaw to get through sometimes. We have been here a long time, and the walls show it. It’s not a place for someone who likes quiet or lots of personal space. We are usually busy counting items or loading up things for customers who have been coming to us for years. There is no air conditioning, just the old ceiling fans spinning away to keep the air moving. You get used to the noise of the laborers and the shouting from the street after a while. We don’t have a website or anything like that; we just operate from this address and talk to whoever walks in. It’s a practical, old-school way to run a shop. Most of my day is spent making sure the inventory matches the books, which can be a headache when it gets really busy. Park Town is a tough place to work, but it’s where we belong. We just keep the doors open and get on with the business.
