Sree Saraa Tailoring

We are over at 62 Rameswaram Road in T. Nagar. Most people think of T. Nagar as just big jewelry shops and massive clothing stores, but our little corner at Sree Saraa Tailoring is much more quiet. We’ve been at this address for a long time, and the building has that old Chennai feel to it. It’s mostly just us and our sewing machines and a lot of measuring tapes hanging around our necks. We spend the day taking measurements and trying to get the fit just right for the people who come in. During the wedding and festival seasons, the shop gets buried in colorful fabrics and half-finished blouses, and it’s hard to find a place to sit down. We don't do any big promotions. Most of our customers are women from the neighborhood who have been coming to us since they were young. We have a big wooden table where we do all the cutting, and it’s got marks on it from years of use. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use the old manual machines, which makes everything take a bit longer, but we still get it done. Rameswaram Road can get a bit congested with parked scooters, so we’re used to the noise of people trying to navigate the street outside. It’s just a small, honest tailoring shop where we try to do right by the people who trust us.
