We’re over in T Nagar, right near Natesan Park on Kannadasan Salai. It’s a pretty central spot in Chennai, so it’s easy for our members to find us. This association is all about fire safety and security. We aren’t a company selling alarms or anything; we’re more of a group where people in the safety industry can get together. We talk about codes, new equipment, and how to make buildings safer for everyone. Our office is a modest place where we keep our files and hold small meetings. Most of our work involves coordinating with different people across the country who care about fire safety. It’s not flashy work, but it’s important to us. We spend a lot of time on emails and phone calls, trying to organize workshops or just sharing information about recent fire incidents and what could have been done better. We’ve been here for a while, and the neighborhood has changed around us, but we stay focused on our main goal. People from different sectors—engineers, builders, and safety officers—all come through our doors. We don’t use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just want to help people understand fire risks and how to manage them. It's about being practical and making sure the right information gets to the right people. Sometimes the office is quiet, and other times it’s full of people debating the best way to handle a safety issue that just came up. We try to stay available for anyone who needs to talk about safety stuff.
