We are set up at 272 Thambu Chetty Street in the Parrys area. If you know Chennai, you know Parrys is one of the busiest spots you can find. It’s always loud with horns and people moving about. Our office is right in the middle of all that action. We handle container lines, which basically means a lot of coordination and tracking. It’s a lot of sitting at desks and looking at screens to see where things are. The building is older, like many others on this street, but it works for what we need. We get a lot of dust from the street, so we’re always cleaning off the desks. The heat in Chennai can be tough, but we have some fans going to keep us moving. We don’t really do anything fancy here. It’s just honest work, making sure things move from the port to wherever they are going next. The staff here has been together for a while, so we know how to work around each other’s habits. We take our breaks when we can find a quiet moment, usually getting some coffee from the place nearby. It’s a lot of logistics, a lot of phone calls, and making sure the documents are signed properly. We don’t have a big sign or anything, just the address on the door. It’s a practical way to spend the day, and we’re used to the pace of this neighborhood.
