Waste Paper Mart

Waste Paper Mart is down at No-119 Trikulr Spasumpon St. in Porur. It’s exactly what the name says. We deal with waste paper, old newspapers, and cardboard mostly. The yard is usually full of stacks of paper waiting to be moved out. It’s a messy job, and our clothes usually end up pretty dusty by the end of the day. We’ve been at this spot in Porur for years. People from all over the neighborhood bring their old scrap to us. We weigh it, give them some cash, and add it to the pile. It’s not a glamorous business, but it’s honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset. The street can get pretty crowded, so we have to be careful with the trucks coming in and out. Sometimes the piles get a bit tall and we have to reorganize everything to make more room. It's just a few of us here doing the heavy lifting. We don’t have a website or any of that stuff; we just rely on people knowing where we are. If you walk down Spasumpon St, you’ll see the stacks of paper and probably hear us moving things around. We just try to keep things moving and stay on top of the heaps. It’s a simple way to make a living, and we’ve gotten used to the smell of old paper and the constant dust in the air. We just keep doing our thing here day after day and it works for us.
