We are tucked away on Devaraja Mudali Street in Park Town, near the mat shop at No 33. This part of town is always buzzing with people and carts moving back and forth. It is a traditional area, and our shop fits right in with the rest of the street. We have been here for quite a while. The building is older, and it has that specific smell of an old trade shop. We sell a variety of goods that people in the neighborhood need for their homes. Most of our customers are folks who have lived around here for generations. They know us by name, and we know them too. We do not have a big fancy showroom. It is more about having what people want on the shelves. Sometimes we have to climb up the ladders to reach the top rows, which is a bit of a workout. The street outside is narrow, so it is always a squeeze when the stock arrives. We just get on with it. It is hard work, and the days are long, but it feels good to be part of the Park Town community. We keep the shop open early and stay until the sun goes down. People drop in for a quick item or just to see what is new. We do not do much advertising. People usually just find us because they are walking by or someone told them we were here. It is a simple way to run a business.
