Down here at 44, Ganesh Nagar, within the G.K. Industrial Estate in Alapakkam, Porur, you’ll find Sri Guru Industries. It’s a bit of a maze getting here if you don’t know the turns, but we’ve been at this spot for quite a while now. Most of the people working here are from around Porur or the nearby areas. We do industrial work, which means a lot of metal, noise, and heat. The workshop gets pretty warm during the summer months, but we’re used to it by now and just keep the big doors open. We don’t have any fancy offices or air-conditioned waiting rooms. It’s a working floor through and through. We focus on the tasks at hand, whether it’s machining or assembly or just sorting out raw materials. It’s the kind of place where you’ll always find someone with grease on their hands. We don’t spend much time on fancy talk or trying to impress people with big words. We just do the work that comes in. Some days are hectic with deadlines looming, and other days we’re just maintaining the equipment so things don’t break down. It’s a steady rhythm we’ve built up over the years. We know most of the other shop owners in G.K. Industrial Estate, so there’s a bit of a community feel to the place. You help a neighbor out with a tool, and they do the same for you. It’s honest work and it keeps us going day after day.
