Sree Sarathy Industries

Sree Sarathy Industries is located at No.36 on Ethiraj Swamy Salai in Erukancherry. We are right across the road from Don Bosco School, so we hear the school bells and the kids shouting during their breaks. It's a lively spot to be in. The workshop itself is a plain building. We don't have any decorations on the walls, just some calendars and a few shelves for our tools. We focus on metalwork mostly. It’s heavy work and it can be tiring, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We usually have the doors open to let some air in, though that also lets in the dust from the street. There are three of us here most days. We don't have a manager watching over our shoulders; we just know what needs to be done and we do it. Sometimes a customer will drop by to check on their order and we'll have a quick chat before getting back to the machines. We try to keep things simple. No fancy computer systems or high-tech gadgets, just old-fashioned grit and some reliable equipment. The neighborhood knows us as the shop across from the school. We've been here long enough that we feel like a part of the local landscape. It's not a glamorous job, but it's what we know how to do, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday.
