Sree Amaravathi Chit Fund Private Limited is over in Alwarthirunagar Annexe in Chennai. We are at Flat S 2, Plot No 107 on the 3rd Cross Street. It’s a residential neighborhood, so it feels a lot different than the offices in the middle of the city. We have our setup in a flat, which makes it feel more personal and less like a cold office building. People from the nearby apartments and houses come over to participate in the chits. We handle the collections and the distribution of the prize money right from here. There is usually a lot of paperwork spread out on the tables. We keep everything organized in various folders and registers. The atmosphere is generally quiet except for when we have the monthly meetings for the chit groups. Then, the room fills up with people and there is a lot of talk about the bidding and the amounts. We have a small group of staff who manage the daily entries and answer the phone when people call with questions. It’s a very hands-on way to run a business. We don't have any flashy advertisements or anything like that. Most of our members are just people who live on the same street or a few blocks away. It’s a simple operation where we focus on getting the numbers right and keeping the records updated every single day. We take a lunch break around one o'clock.
