Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Limited

Our office is in SPIC House, which is at 88 Mount Road in Guindy. If you’ve been through Guindy, you’ve probably seen the building. It’s a well-known spot right on the main road. Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Limited is a long name, so most people just call us SPIC. The building has been here for decades, and it shows its age in some places, but it’s a solid place to work. Being on Mount Road means the traffic is always loud outside, but inside we just focus on the business. We deal with a lot of industrial stuff, mostly petrochemicals and fertilizers. It’s a lot of coordination between the plants and the customers. We don't have a lot of flashy modern furniture. Most of the desks are old and heavy. We have a lot of departments and hundreds of people working here, but it still feels like a local place in many ways. We eat lunch together in the canteen and talk about the news or the weather. We aren't trying to sell anything to individuals on the street. Our work is more behind the scenes, making sure the supply chain keeps moving. It’s a lot of meetings and phone calls. We don't use big words to describe ourselves. We are just a big group of people keeping a large operation running day in and day out.
