We spend most of our days here at the Papal Building in Pukkathurai. It is right across from the Gamesa Siemens place, so there is always a lot of traffic and big lorries moving around on the main road. Being in Kanchi Puram district, it gets really hot in the middle of the day, but we just get on with things. Sodecia India has been part of this area for a bit now. Most of us who work here know the local tea shops pretty well. It’s not like those fancy offices you see in the city. There is a lot of noise from the shop floor and the smell of grease and metal is just part of the air we breathe. People come in, do their shift, and head home. The building itself is sturdy and does the job. We don’t have much time for small talk when the machines are running. It is a practical place. Sometimes the dust from the road gets everywhere, especially during the dry season. We see the same faces every day, both inside the gates and out on the street. It is just a regular industrial setup where we make parts and handle the daily grind of manufacturing. Nothing more to it than that. If you are looking for us, you just look for the big signs near the industrial park area. We are usually here early before the sun gets too high and the heavy trucks start blocking everything up.
