About Site Supervisor – Metals & Minerals in Chennai
Out here in Nannilam, things move a bit slower than the big cities, but there is always work to do. We are based over on Somacikulam Street, which is a fairly quiet spot until the trucks start rolling in. Being a site supervisor in a place like Thiruvrur district means you have to be ready for anything, from sudden rains that turn the ground to mud to guys not showing up because of a local festival. I spend most of my time walking between the sites and the small office near the post office. I keep a close eye on the bricks and the sand piles. It is mostly about making sure the measurements are right so we do not have to tear anything down and start over. That happens more than you would think if you are not watching closely. My boots are usually covered in red dust by ten in the morning. I have been doing this for a while now, and it is just me and a couple of helpers mostly. We do not have any big flashy signs or anything like that. Just a desk and some old chairs. It gets pretty humid here, so we take breaks for tea whenever the local shop opens up. Dealing with the different crews can be a headache, but seeing the roof go on a new building makes it worth the trouble. We just try to get things done without too many delays or problems.
