Shree Balaji Tiles & Sanitarywares

If you head down to 264 Thambu Chetty Street, you’ll find us right in the middle of all the action. This street is famous for being crowded, and we’re right there with everyone else. At Shree Balaji Tiles & Sanitarywares, our space is mostly taken up by boxes of tiles and bathroom fittings. There isn't a lot of room to move around sometimes, especially when a new shipment arrives. We spend a lot of our day unloading crates and showing people the different patterns and finishes we have in stock. The air in the shop always has that faint smell of ceramic and cardboard. It gets pretty hot during the middle of the day, so we usually have a couple of small fans pointed at us while we work. Thambu Chetty Street is never quiet, there are always carts and bikes squeezing past the front door. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here. Sometimes we stand out front for a minute just to catch a breeze and watch the people go by. It’s hard work, moving heavy boxes and making sure nothing gets cracked or broken. We don't have a big fancy showroom, just the shop where everything is stacked up. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and we just focus on getting the right tiles to the people who need them for their homes. We often eat our lunch in the small back room.
