If you come down to Anna Pillai Street, you’ll find us on the second floor at shop number 211. It’s right in the middle of a very busy and crowded part of the city. We deal with all kinds of lights and electrical fittings. The shop is usually packed with cardboard boxes from the floor to the ceiling, so it can be a bit of a tight squeeze to get around. We’ve been in this building for a long time, and we know most of the other shopkeepers on our floor. It’s a lot of work handling the stock, especially when new shipments arrive and we have to find space for everything in our small room. We spend our days talking to customers, testing light bulbs, and making sure the orders are correct before they leave. It’s very loud out on the street and that noise carries up to us all day, but you get used to it after working here for a while. We aren't a fancy showroom with expensive lighting displays; we’re a practical shop where people come to get exactly what they need. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when several customers are in the shop at once, but we just handle them one by one. We don't have a big corporate team, just a few of us who know the inventory inside and out. It’s hard work and long hours, but we like being part of this market community.
