Our place is at Old No.19, which they changed to New No.40, on Sampangi Street in West Mambalam. If you have ever been to Chennai, you know that West Mambalam is one of those neighborhoods that feels very lived-in. It is busy and the streets are narrow, but it has a lot of character. Shapoorji Paloonji Construction Ltd is the name we use here. The street is usually full of people going to the temples or the markets nearby. We have been at this address for quite some time now. Sometimes people get confused by the old and new numbers on the gate, but they eventually find us. It’s a typical Chennai building. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so the fans are always running at full speed. We are not some big corporate headquarters with a lobby and a receptionist. It is more like a functional space where the engineers and clerks sit together to sort out the project details. Being in Chennai-23 means we are right in the thick of things. The morning smells of coffee from the houses nearby are a nice touch that we enjoy. We just do our work and keep things moving. The address might seem a bit complicated on paper, but once you are on Sampangi Street, it is pretty straightforward. It is a practical spot for a construction office and it suits what we do daily.
