Shai Camera Centre

The shop is called Shai Camera Centre and we are located in Triplicane. Specifically, we are at 94 Padupakkam. It is a busy area and the shop is usually full of lenses and old camera bodies. We see all kinds of people coming through here. Some are professionals and some just have an old family camera they want to use again. We do not have a big staff, just a couple of us who know our way around a sensor or a shutter. Triplicane has its own rhythm and we fit right into it. Sometimes the dust from the street is a bit of a problem for the equipment, so we spend a lot of time cleaning things. We do not try to act like we are some high-end boutique. It is more of a workshop vibe where things actually get fixed or traded. If a camera is not working right, we take a look and see what can be done. It is practical work. We have been at this Padupakkam spot for a while now. People know they can drop by and ask a question without feeling pressured. We just talk about the gear and what is needed. The shelves are a bit messy, but that is because we are always moving things around. It is a real place for people who actually use their cameras. We do not use any scripts or corporate talk. Just honest talk about photography tools and getting things back in working order.
