Red Cross Packaging

Down in Vadapalani, specifically at 7, Kaochi Mani Molicu Colony, you’ll find our packaging setup. It’s located just off Dorai Swamy Road. We spend a lot of time surrounded by cardboard, tape, and rolls of plastic. It gets pretty cramped inside Red Cross Packaging when a big order comes in, and we’re all tripping over boxes trying to get things labeled. The humidity in Chennai doesn't help much, especially when you’re moving stacks of heavy material around, but we’ve got our fans going and we manage. We aren't some massive factory with robots; it’s mostly hand-operated stuff and people making sure the edges are straight. We see a lot of different businesses come through here needing boxes or wraps for their own products. It’s interesting to see what people are selling. Sometimes the floor is covered in scraps and we have to take a break just to clear a path. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. If you walk in, you’ll see us in our work clothes, probably covered in a bit of glue or dust. It’s a straightforward way to make a living. We just make sure the packaging is sturdy enough to survive the trip to wherever it’s going. It’s not complicated, but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday every single week. We just focus on the boxes and the tape and getting things out of the door.
