Rayyaan Architects(closed)

Rayyaan Architects used to operate out of the first floor of a building on 1st Street in Egmore. The address was number 23, right there in the Sait Colony area. It was a good spot, really close to Don Bosco School, so we’d hear the school bells and the kids playing during our work hours. Egmore is a busy part of Chennai, with old buildings and narrow streets that have a lot of character. Our office wasn't anything special to look at from the outside, but inside we had our drawing boards and a lot of old files stacked up in the corners. We spent years there, working through all sorts of architectural plans and site layouts. Being on the first floor meant we could look out at the street and see the daily bustle of the neighborhood. We dealt with a lot of different people, from local homeowners to small shop owners looking to fix up their spaces. The work was steady, and we had our routine of morning tea and afternoon site checks. Even though things change and offices close, the memories of working in that space near Sait Colony stay with us. It was a place where we put in a lot of hours, sometimes staying late into the evening when the street finally got quiet. We weren't trying to change the world, just trying to design buildings that made sense for the people living in them. It was a good run while it lasted in that little corner of Egmore.
