Rani Chairs. Our shop is at No 59/5 in the furniture market area. We are tucked behind the Sivan Koil Temple, right off the 100 Feet Road in Vadapalani. It is a very busy part of town and the temple brings in a lot of people every day. We mostly deal with all kinds of chairs, as you can probably tell from the name. The shop is full of them, stacked up high to save space. It’s a bit of a squeeze to walk through the aisles sometimes. The noise from 100 Feet Road is always there in the background, but it’s quieter back here behind the temple. We’ve been part of this furniture market for quite some time. The floor is concrete and we don't have fancy decorations on the walls. It’s just about the chairs. Most of our customers are locals from around Vadapalani or people who know the market well. We open up early in the morning and stay until the sun goes down. Sometimes we sit outside on the stools when it’s slow. The temple bells are a nice sound to hear during the day. We don't do much marketing, just the sign out front. If someone needs a chair for their office or home, they usually find us eventually. It’s a straightforward business and we like it that way. We keep a small kettle for tea in the back for when the afternoon gets long and quiet.
