If you head down to Sowcarpet and find Annapillai Street, we are right there at number 122. You have to come up to the first floor. The stairs are a bit narrow, so you have to be careful if you’re carrying anything heavy. It’s always busy in this part of town. There are carts and bikes everywhere, and the noise from the street never really stops until very late at night. Our office is basically one big room with a lot of files and some chairs for visitors. We do a lot of marketing work, which mostly involves talking to vendors and checking on supplies. It gets pretty dusty because we keep the windows open for the breeze. The ceiling fans spin all day but they don't do much against the Chennai heat. We usually have a lunch break where we all sit together and eat whatever we brought from home. Sometimes the neighbors from the other shops pop in to borrow a stapler or just to chat about the market prices. It’s a tight-knit community here in Sowcarpet. We’ve been in this building for years and know all the quirks of the plumbing and the lights. It’s a simple setup. We don't need much to keep things running. Just a working phone and enough space to stack our records. Most of our regulars just come up the stairs and walk right in without knocking. We like that it feels like a neighborhood business rather than something fancy.
