Our shop is right on South Avani Moola Street, number 39. This is one of the oldest and busiest streets you can find in Madurai. There is always something happening outside our door, from morning until late at night. We specialize in silver. Most of the silver we have is for household use, like plates and tumblers, or small gifts for babies. The street is narrow and always packed with people, bikes, and carts moving goods. It can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to the noise and the crowd. Our space inside is narrow too, just like the street outside. We have silver piled up in cabinets and on the counters. It’s a very traditional way of doing business that hasn't changed much over the years. We don't have air conditioning that works all the time, so we leave the door open to get a breeze. You can hear the temple bells from the big temple nearby and the vendors shouting all day long. We have been here for a long time and we know all the other shopkeepers on this block. We aren't a big corporation with fancy offices in some high-rise building. We are just a silver shop on a famous street. We spend our time weighing silver and polishing pieces that have gone a bit dull in the air. It is a lot of work to keep up with the pace of South Avani Moola Street. We just sit on our stools and wait for the next person to walk in.
