Running a PG in T Nagar is a busy life. We are located at No 30 North Usman Road, right near the Reliance store. If you know Chennai, you know how crowded North Usman Road can get, especially during the festival seasons. There’s always a crowd of shoppers outside, but once you step inside our place, it gets a bit quieter. We have rooms for people who come to the city for work or study. Most of the folks staying here at Prashanti Paying Guest Accommodation are from other parts of Tamil Nadu or even further away. It’s a basic setup with beds, some storage, and shared spaces. We try to keep things organized, though it can be a challenge with so many different schedules. The kitchen usually smells like sambar or tea in the mornings. Being near the shops is good for the residents because they can find anything they need just by walking out the door. We spend a lot of time checking people in and making sure the water and electricity are running okay. It’s a lot of maintenance work and talking to the guests about their day. Some stay for months, others just for a few weeks. We don’t do any big advertising; the sign outside is enough. People usually just walk in and ask if there’s a vacant bed. It’s just a regular house that’s been turned into a home for people passing through the city.
