Right at No. 2 on 2nd Cross Street in Mangalam Nagar, Porur, you will find our place, Sri Shirdi Sai Garment. Since it is away from the main roads, we get to work in a bit of peace. We have been in the garment business for a while, mostly focusing on getting the stitching right and making sure the sizes are what they should be. It is a small setup, just a few of us working together in the space. We have some older machines that need a bit of a kick to start sometimes, but they still do a better job than some of the newer ones. The room is usually filled with the smell of new cloth and the hum of the motors. We don't spend money on fancy signs or advertising because most people find out about us through word of mouth. If you do a good job, people eventually hear about it. Our daily routine is pretty much the same every day. We arrive, check the orders, and start the machines. We take our breaks together and talk about the news or what is happening in Porur. It is a humble business and we don't have any grand ideas about expanding across the country. We just want to make sure the work we do today is as good as what we did yesterday. It keeps us busy and it is honest work, which is all we really ask for in the end. It is not much but it is ours.
