P.G.N Chits Private Limited is based over in Shanthi Nagar, which is part of Adambakkam. The exact spot is NO:10/6 on 1st Street. We are technically in the Kancheepuram district part of the city, but everyone just calls it Chennai 88. Our office is in a residential building, so it feels very much like a home. There is a small gate and a patch of concrete where people park their scooters when they come to see us. Inside, it is just a few rooms converted for our chit fund business. We have big metal cupboards where we store all the old records and documents. It is usually quiet here on 1st Street, which is nice for focusing on the numbers. We spend our mornings responding to queries and the afternoons updating the books. Most of the people who use our services are neighbors or friends of friends. We don't believe in making things complicated. You come in, we talk about the chit groups, and that’s it. My nephew sometimes helps out with the typing, but mostly it is just a couple of us handling everything. The walls are painted a simple cream color and we have a small shrine in the corner. It is a very typical local office. We don't use any high-tech gadgets, just a basic computer and a lot of pens. It is honest work and we enjoy the daily routine of it. The walk to the main road is short too.
