We are located right on Vv Giri Street in Ram Nagar, which is quite close to the Ambattur railway station. If you know the area, you know it gets pretty busy around here, especially with the commuters coming and going. The shop is basically what you’d expect from a local hardware place. We have stacks of things everywhere, from buckets and paints to all kinds of screws and plumbing bits that people need for their homes. My day usually starts early, opening up the shutters and dusting off some of the shelves before the first customers trickle in. Most people who come by are just looking for a specific size of bolt or maybe some tools to fix a leaky tap. It’s a lot of walking back and forth to find exactly what someone is asking for because we try to keep a bit of everything in stock. The space isn’t very big, but we make it work by stacking things high. Sometimes it feels a bit cramped when three or four people are inside at once. Outside, the street noise is constant, but you get used to it after a while. We spend a lot of time just chatting with the neighbors or the regulars who stop in just to say hello while they’re out running errands. It’s a straightforward way to spend the day, just helping people find what they need so they can get back to their own projects at home.
