If you go to the first floor of No. 7 Venkatachala Mudali Street, you’ll find us. Park Town is always crowded, and our street is no different. Congo Tools is a small operation, mostly dealing with hand tools and bits of hardware. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit steep, so we tell people to watch their step. The room is packed with boxes from the floor to the ceiling. We don't have a lot of space to move around, but we’ve got a system that works. Most of the day is spent unpacking shipments and checking the items. We get a lot of regulars from the nearby workshops who need something replaced quickly. It’s a noisy area with all the horns and people shouting outside, but it keeps us busy. We have an old fan that makes a clicking sound, but it helps with the heat. We don't do much in the way of fancy displays. The tools are mostly kept in their original crates until someone wants to see them. It’s a straightforward way to work. My brother and I run the place, and we usually eat our lunch right there at the main desk. We’ve been in Park Town for years and wouldn't really know what to do with ourselves in a quiet neighborhood. It’s a bit of a squeeze, but it’s our spot and it serves the purpose.
