Our office is over at No 13 on the third floor of the Mowbrays Flats, which is at the new number 220 on T.T.K Road in Alwarpet. It’s a pretty well-known part of the city. We work as a clearing and forwarding agency, so there is always a heap of documents on every desk. Being on the third floor means we get a bit of a view of the trees on TTK Road, but mostly we are just looking at computer screens. The building is an older flat style, so it feels more like a home than a big office block. We’ve been here long enough that the security guard knows us all by name. We handle the logistical side of moving goods, which means a lot of filing and checking customs rules. It can be a bit boring for some, but it’s important work to keep everything moving. We don’t use a lot of big business talk. We just tell our clients what the status of their cargo is and what needs to be signed next. Sometimes the lift in the building is slow, so we end up taking the stairs. We have our small lunch breaks together and talk about regular things. It’s a quiet, steady kind of business life here in Alwarpet. We just keep our heads down and make sure the paperwork is correct before the day ends. Alwarpet is a good place to be, even if the traffic on TTK Road is a bit much.
