Omega Industries

Out here in Porur, the traffic on Kundrathur Main Road is almost always heavy. Our workshop, Omega Industries, is at 7878, and you can usually hear the sound of the road even when the doors are closed. It’s a big, industrial-feeling space with high ceilings and concrete floors that are always a bit stained with oil or grease. We don't have a fancy showroom. If you come to see us, you’re basically walking right into the middle of where the work happens. There are tools hanging on the walls and pieces of metal or machinery sitting on the benches. It’s loud and it can get pretty hot in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the building. We’ve been at this location for years, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot. More buildings are going up every day. We just keep doing what we do. Our team is small, just a few guys who know their way around a machine. We don't wear uniforms or anything like that, just old clothes that we don't mind getting dirty. We usually have a radio playing in the background, though you can barely hear it over the noise of the fans. It’s a tough environment but it’s where we feel most comfortable getting the job done. Sometimes we have to shout to be heard, but that is just part of the everyday routine around here.
